Whenever you think of weight loss, what comes in your weight?
Diet or exercise – which would do you prefer?
Let’s take a look at it!
Many people had given you the advice to eat less and move more if you had asked them about the practicality of weight loss. Many of us would agree on that. Yes, eating healthier will not add bad fat in your body; but it would not help with weight loss if we are consuming more calories in the name of a healthy diet.
There are infinite things we could do in order to be fit and healthy, like – move more, have vegetables, eat less processed food, or drink less alcohol, and stay away from the junk. It isn’t easy as it sounds.
There were many studies conducted and there were many results, which corresponds to that the results are based on individual’s adherence. In other words, practicality is the king here. You should follow a strict regime, according to your body needs and this will help you in weight loss. As there are many quick ways too like taking steroids, which needs proper care and assistance, as one wrong cycle can have fatal effects. So do research and consult doctors before you buy oral steroids for weight loss.
Sweat it out in the gym!
You can lose weight by diet alone, but exercise is also an important factor to it. Working out stimulates the growth of the metabolic tissues, which means you are burning mostly fat. Hitting the gym will help you burn the fat and the fat takes more space in the body than the muscles. That’s why working out will reduce your size and you look adorable.
You need to build five to seven workouts a week, 50 minutes each, at moderate intensity, like – brisk walk or Zumba. Weight training or resistance helps too, but don’t overdo it, as it can cause muscle strains. Don’t indulge in weight lifting exercises like biceps curls, as you’ll get leaner muscle faster by using the body weight against gravity, with movements like squats, lunges, push-ups, and planks.
Beyond burning fat, there are other impressive health perks – improving the quality of your sleep, reducing the stress level and lowering the cholesterol level.
Being active doesn’t mean you are fit; the heavy diet can affect your health and you may not lose weight while indulging in active work and not exercise. However, exercises are a great way to fight certain risks in the future including:
- Minimize the blood sugar
- Minimize heart attacks
- Burns calories
- Minimizes the diabetes
- Reduce strokes
- Increase muscle mass
- Aids in depression
- Helps in mental sharpness
- Increase longevity
- Improves physical appearance
- Retards progression of atherosclerosis
- Concern for well being
What about the diet?
The weight loss is generally 75% diet and 25 % exercise, according to the thumb rule. Most of the people change their diet and focus less on exercise. It’s easier to cut calories rather than indulging in intense workout regime. For example, if you are eating fast food, which has 500 calories, then you have to run four miles to burn that one. So it’s better to avoid that piece of food rather than run four miles.
Low carb diets are most popular as they offer faster results, but are difficult to sustain. Experts recommend going for a more balanced diet that includes fruits and veggies, lean proteins and whole grain carbs. Always remember to switch healthy from junk and don’t cut too many calories, as it will slow your metabolism and you may start losing muscle mass.
Many people find time to exercise or drive to the gym, but complain that they don’t have enough time to prepare a healthy meal and hence opt for junk food. If this is your complaint too, then you can spend half of the time exercising, and other half preparing the meals. You don’t have to prepare heavy or complicated meals, but you can prepare small meals once a week and can use it for the rest of the week.
Sprouts, or salad, or juices can be prepared at once and can be used daily so that you don’t opt for junk food. If sometimes you even miss making food, then opt for fresh fruits instead; it will make a huge difference, and soon you can see the results.
Dieting is termed as a drastic change, but you may surely put on weight once you stop it. So keep a balance between diet and exercise. Diet doesn’t mean you have to stay hungry, just cut the calories and chose healthy foods over junk food.
The bottom line is…
Diet and exercise are both important for a proper weight loss, and emphasis should be put on both. Having junk food along with strict workout session won’t aid you in weight loss, and also a healthy diet without exercise will not make you active and weight loss process may become hard enough. A proper balance of both is needed to have a fast and effective result.
