- Avoid Salt.
Salt or sodium chloride has been used to preserve food, and as a flavor enhancer for centuries. Consuming high amounts of salt, will result in high blood pressure. Older people only need between 1.2 to 2.4 grams of salt per day, the equivalent of up to 460 920 milligrams sodium. But if you have high blood pressure, avoid foods that have sodium levels. Do not add salt and try to choose foods low in salt.
- Avoid Alco**hol.
Consume one or more alco**holic drinks a day, associated with systolic blood pressure, which is about 2.7 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure 1.4 mmHg higher than those who never drink it. Interestingly, when you first start drinking alco**holic beverages, blood pressure down, but thereafter will experience an increase.
- Avoid Liquorice.
