What is permethrin cream used for?
Permethrin is beneficial for treating scabies caused by mites attached to the skin and lice that live on the scalp. Permethrin is also used to prevent the transmission of head lice on people who make direct contact with sufferers. Scabies and lice, generally attack older persons and children 2 months and older.
Permethrin works by destroying parasitic cells so as to kill mites and lice, as well as their eggs.

How to use Permethrin?
This drug is an external drug, used only on the skin. Take this drug as soon as possible after it is recommended. Apply the drug from the head to the soles of the feet, including under the nails and the folds of the skin as between the toes as recommended. Massage the cream into the skin. Do not use more drugs than prescribed. Wash the cream after 8-14 hours while bathing.
Avoid creams getting into the eyes, nose, mouth, or vagi**na. If the drug hits your eyes, flush the eyes with plenty of water. Consult your doctor in case of irritation.
Symptoms of scabies include itching, which is usually worse while sleeping. You can also see a thin, wavy thin line on the skin with a small insect at the end (burrow). Burrows are usually found in the webs of fingers, toes, wrists, elbows, armpits, belt lines, lower buttocks, female nip**ples, or male geni**talia.
Even if permethrin kills all these insects, dead mites can still make you itch for up to 4 weeks after treatment. Ask your doctor about other medications that can be used to relieve hives. Tell your doctor if your condition stays the same or even worsens within 2 weeks after treatment. It is likely that your doctor needs to look for surviving mites and recommend more intensive treatments.
