Lungs Function

The Human Lungs Function and Parts – As one of the vital organs in the body, human lungs serve as the primary respiratory organ. However, in addition to helping us inhale the air, other lung function is not less important to the body. This Organ, also called a role in protecting the heart to prevent infection.

Located inside the chest cavity, both the lungs on the left and right are apparently not the same magnitude. The left lung is smaller because on the left is a heart. As a soft vital organ, the lungs are protected by skeletal bones.

Human Lung Parts

The human lungs consist of several parts that each have a specific role, to support the main lungs function, which is the primary organ of breathing. If sorted from above, the first part of the lung is trachea. Trachea is the main airways and can be referred to as the foundation pillar of human lung.

Trachea is shaped like a reversed Y letter. Trachea is on the line, and then two branches, left and right. The tracheal branch, then enters the left and right lungs, as part of the organ. Further, here is the detail of the lungs.

Bronchus is a tracheal branch connected to the left and right lungs. The left Bronchus enters the left lung, and the right bronchus enters the right lung.

The main bronchial function is the airway of the mouth and trachea. The air in and out of the lungs, will pass through the bronchi. In addition, bronchial is also called as having a role to remove mucus or phlegm which plays a role in the body’s defense system.

The next human lung is a bronchiole which is a branch of the bronchi. Bronchioles are very small in size, such as hair, and many. On both the left and right lungs, there are up to 30,000 bronchioles.

Alveoli and alveolus

At the end of the Bronchioles, there is an alveoli set of air sacs. Each air sac, called alveolus, is very small in size. However, the amount of alveoli is very much, which is about 600 million.

The pleura is a thin membrane lining of the protective lungs and inner skeleton, which faces the lungs. Pleura has two layers, so when the lungs come into contact with the inside of the skeleton, there will be no friction.

The diaphragm does not actually stick to human lungs. However, its role cannot be separated from the lungs. The diaphragm is the respiratory muscle located below the lungs and separates the chest area of the abdomen.

As you breathe, the diaphragm contracts and pulls the lungs downwards and expands it so that the air can enter perfectly. Then, when exhale, the diaphragm will relax and return to the original shape that looks like a dome, so that the amount of air is pushed out the lungs.

Human Lungs Function

Here are the human lungs function.

Respiration Tools

People breathe by breathing the air through the nose that then flows through the throat. After arriving at Alveoli, the air is filtered into oxygen and exhaled in the form of carbon dioxide which is air waste.

Other Organ Protectors

In addition to functioning as a tool of respiration, human lung function is also to protect other organs of the body namely the liver. The liver position is located under two sides of the lungs so that it is protected from shock.

Blood pH Controller

The lungs can serve as an influence on the acidic and alkaline levels in the blood. Unbalanced blood pH sizes can interfere with body organ work. However, in the presence of lung functioning properly, blood pH becomes normal, ranging from 7.35 to 7.45.

Conversely, if the lung function does not run properly, respiratory acidosis and respiratory alkalosis are not the same condition as the human blood pH.

Prevents pollutants from entering.

Before getting into the lungs, the air is filtered with nose feathers. But if there are small particles that enter will stop at the mucus layer or sputum.

As a tool of excretion

The lungs serve as a tool in the human body by blowing gas in carbon dioxide from the lungs.

Make the cough secrete dirt.

The cough is not necessarily bad, this is one way of protection that the body does. The cough is able to remove mucus from the lungs very quickly.

Filtering the Blood

The lungs serve as a tool that can filter from blood clots that will form in the venous blood.

Controlling blood pressure

The lungs serve as a tool that can control the blood pressure because of the presence of angiotensin being a chemical substance at human blood pressure.

Filtering the Gas Bubbles

Human Lungs Function

The lungs serve as a tool that can filter the blood with the gas channel by filtering the bubbles on a very small gas so that it can allow the blood flow to be clogged.

Become a blood reservoir.

The Volume of blood in the lungs is 9% of the total human blood is about 450 milliliters. Blood loss from blood circulation can be partially replaced by blood from the lungs that will be channeled into the systemic vessels.

That’s some Lungs Function and Parts. The lungs themselves need to be kept in health because they have an important impact on overall body health. One of the functions of the lungs is spreading oxygen throughout the body. The body needs oxygen to be able to work well as it develops and metabolizing the body.
